About the California Hispanic Legislative Caucus

For too long, Sacramento’s political establishment has dictated what it means to be a Hispanic voter, leader, and policymaker in California. They have defined our community through outdated stereotypes while ignoring the diverse and dynamic reality of Hispanic Californians today. Those who challenge their rigid, backward-looking views have been shut out, while policies that make life harder—raising the cost of living, driving jobs and businesses out of the state, and making homeownership unattainable for too many working families—continue unchecked.

The California Hispanic Legislative Caucus was founded to change that. Our mission is simple but urgent: to advance economic prosperity, empowerment, and well-being for Hispanic Californians. We are here to represent the millions of Latinos across this state who want safer communities, better jobs, and a government that works for them—not against them.

For years, Sacramento politicians have imposed a one-size-fits-all approach to Hispanic representation, failing to acknowledge the real needs and priorities of our diverse community. They assume that Latinos fit into a narrow ideological box, ignoring the fact that Hispanic Californians overwhelmingly want lower costs of living, more affordable housing, better-paying jobs, and safer neighborhoods.

Yet, too many policies coming out of Sacramento do the opposite—driving up the cost of energy, housing, and everyday necessities while making it harder for businesses to grow and create jobs. The California Hispanic Legislative Caucus is committed to changing that by advocating for policies that empower Hispanic families, strengthen small businesses, and restore the promise of the California Dream.
