California Hispanic Legislative Caucus Launches to Champion Economic Prosperity, Public Safety, and Opportunity for Hispanic Californians

Sacramento, CA – The California Hispanic Legislative Caucus officially launched, establishing a new and much-needed voice for millions of Hispanic Californians who seek economic opportunity, safer communities, and policies that lower the cost of living.

Led by Senator Suzette Valladares and Assemblywoman Kate Sanchez as Co-Chairs, alongside Assemblyman Juan Alanis as Secretary, the Caucus is committed to empowering Hispanic families, strengthening small businesses, and ensuring that government policies work for—not against—the Hispanic community. Additional members include Assemblyman Josh Hoover, Assemblyman Jeff Gonzalez, Assemblywoman Alexandra Macedo, and State Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil.

Former legislators Assemblyman Rocky Chavez (ret.), Assemblywoman Bonnie Garcia (ret.), Assemblyman Rod Pacheco (ret.), and Assemblyman Bob Pacheco (ret.) will serve as Honorary Members, bringing historical leadership and expertise to the Caucus.

A Forward-Moving Vision for Hispanic Californians

The California Hispanic Legislative Caucus was founded to advocate for economic prosperity, public safety, and affordability, addressing the real concerns of California’s Hispanic community. The Caucus will work to advance policies that:

  • Lower the cost of living by expanding energy production and cutting unnecessary regulations that drive up housing and utility costs.
  • Support small businesses by reducing overregulation and fostering economic opportunity for Hispanic entrepreneurs.
  • Strengthen public safety by ensuring law enforcement has the resources needed to protect communities and crime victims.
  • Promote quality education and workforce opportunities to help families achieve upward mobility and generational wealth.

“For years, Hispanic lawmakers who believe in lower taxes, safer streets, and real economic opportunity have been excluded from the political conversation in Sacramento,” said Assemblywoman Kate Sanchez, Caucus Co-Chair. “We are changing that today. The California Hispanic Legislative Caucus will fight for real solutions that empower, not burden, our families, small businesses, and workforce.”

“For too long, Sacramento politicians have dictated what it means to be a Hispanic voter, leader, and policymaker—often through outdated stereotypes that ignore the diverse and dynamic reality of Hispanic Californians today,” said Senator Suzette Valladares, Caucus Co-Chair. “Our community overwhelmingly wants lower costs of living, better-paying jobs, and safer neighborhoods. This Caucus is dedicated to ensuring those priorities are at the forefront of policymaking.”

A Commitment to Action

The Caucus has formally requested equality in legislative support and funding to ensure that its members have the same resources as other legislative caucuses. Later this spring, the Caucus will release its legislative priorities, focused on economic growth, public safety, and affordability. Additionally, members will conduct meetings and listening sessions with Hispanic organizations, small business owners, workers, and community leaders across California’s cities and counties.

The California Hispanic Legislative Caucus is open to all lawmakers—regardless of party—who share a commitment to economic prosperity through affordability and cost-lowering policies and support of public safety that ensure safer communities for Hispanic Californians.
