SACRAMENTO, CA —“What Governor Newsom is doing isn’t just politics — it’s a direct attack on millions of Californians’ right to fair representation. These new maps and proposed process were drawn behind closed doors with no public input, designed to protect power, not the people. That is gerrymandering at its worst, and it undermines the very foundation of our democracy.
“California is a state built on opportunity, where families of every background can build a better future. But when politicians manipulate maps, and undermine our established independent process, State Constitution, and will of the voters, they weaken our representation. Hispanic families, workers, students, and small business owners all deserve their voices to be heard — not ignored in a game of political advantage.
“If this scheme goes through, we know what will happen: communities divided, policies that hurt families, and futures discounted. We will not stand by while the Governor rigs the system for personal gain. Our communities deserve transparency, independence and leaders who listen.
“California belongs to the people, all people — not politicians carving it up for themselves. We must demand fair maps and honest representation to protect our communities and keep the California dream alive for every family who calls this state home.”
